The width of the wheel in inches, measured between the bead seats.
Deep Dive
Often confused with the outer width. A "8.5J" wheel is 8.5 inches wide where the tyre sits. The "J" actually refers to the shape of the bead profile (J-shape), which is the industry standard for passenger cars.
